Changes coming to Google Ads automated extensions

Changes Coming to Google Ads Automated Extensions

Google ads announced back in February that there are 3 changes coming to automated extensions.

Google Ads has recently announced that there will be changes, three to be specific to the way automated extensions – a type of ad extension that is created dynamically for your ad when it’s “predicted to improve your performance.”

Here are the three changes that are coming:

1. Both automated and manual extensions can now be shown together. This will start in mid-March,  your manually created extensions will be shown with the automated ones. If you happen to create two sitelinks manually, with this change Google ads can now show two additional dynamic sitelinks.

2. Automatically created extensions seen in reporting. You will be able to see if an extension is created by you or if its “Automatically Created” since you will see it in the table view of the Extensions page.

3. Extensions can be added at ad group, campaign, or account level. Also starting this mid-March, the following extensions: sitelinks, callouts, and structured snippets created from higher levels in your account can now serve with extensions of the same type created from lower levels. Here’s a before and after form that illustrates the changes:
