Image Extensions Begins Rolling Out to Desktop Devices

Google announced recently that they will begin rolling out the image extensions for desktop. Image extensions are previously available only for mobile devices. The update will include dynamic image extensions as well.

If you’re not familiar with image extensions yet, they are search campaign ad extension that makes your text ads more visually appealing and encourages users to click your ads. As mentioned, this was previously available only on mobile devices.

Use Dynamic Image Extensions With Any Language. 

The roll out will also include dynamic image extensions which selects the relevant image from your website which you can use for desktop as well.  that you can also use for desktop. Additionally, dynamic image extensions are now available for all languages.

Searchable Stock image library.

In addition to the update, Google also added a searchable stock image library. A beneficial addition for advertisers who don’t want to pay for premium stock photos since this feature is free. To get started with this, advertisers need to  select “Stock Images” option when you are asked to choose an image to use for your extension. You can use landscape or portrait for this as well.   You can choose landscape or portrait photo orientation.

Best Practice According to Google.

You should apply at least three (3) images to your image extension and ensure that these images are relevant to your keywords and ads. Additionally, ensure that you focus on the important content of your image when you crop them either in portrait or landscape.
